 Dear Resident,

 As the period of lockdown continues, we realise that things are changing daily and are therefore writing to you with an update on the level of service delivery we are able to continue to provide at this time.


Staff Availability

The majority of staff have now returned to the office on a rotational basis as and when they require to carry out tasks that cannot be done from home and to ensure that we continue to provide a service to our residents and potential tenants.  We have carried out Risk Assessments in consultation with our staff to ensure their safety.  We are continuing to follow government guidance and are now in the planning stages of working towards the office re-opening to the public.  We will keep you updated on progress.  Meantime, staff can still be contacted on their direct numbers provided at the end of this letter.



As you will recall, when the lockdown commenced, we were able to provide an emergency repairs service only.  As the weeks have progressed, we have been able to re-introduce other types of repairs that can be done safely, i.e. those that can be completed whilst adhering to social distancing and those that do not require complex materials or plant hire.  Therefore, please continue to contact us if you have any repairs issues and we will make every attempt to complete this for you.

Gas Servicing

We would like to remind you again of our legal obligation as your landlord to carry out an Annual Gas Service and your responsibility under your tenancy agreement to provide access for this.  This is done to ensure your safety and the safety of others around you and as such it is vitally important that we get access to complete this.  We appreciate you may be concerned about providing access at this time.  However, we would like to assure you that our Contractor is well aware of the necessary precautions and has a process in place of asking screening questions before attending.  They also have the appropriate PPE required and methods in place to ensure these can be carried out safely.


Grass Cutting

As you will be aware, due to resource issues with our contractor, we have been unable to carry out ground maintenance services during the lockdown to date.  However, we are hopeful that we will have temporary arrangements in place very soon to allow this to be progressed.  We are also in the process of tendering the full contract with a view to getting a permanent contractor in place as soon as we can.


Close Cleaning

As we reported in the last update, the majority of tenants voted for a close cleaning service to be introduced and we are delighted to advise that we have now appointed a Contractor to move this forward.  We are working with them and will hopefully have these services up and running in the next couple of weeks.  


Meantime, we would encourage tenants to continue to carry out their close cleaning duties as per your tenancy agreement.


Vermin Control

Please continue to report any issues to us about vermin or pests that you are experiencing.


Refuse/Bulk Uplifts

The service from Glasgow City Council is still suspended.  We are continuing to arrange weekly uplifts as required.



Spire View Development at Glenbarr Street

As you may be aware, the site has been closed since the announcement of lockdown.  Given revised government guidance, Spire View and their contractor and gearing up to re-open the site from Monday 22nd June 2020.  Should you have any concerns about the site please contact the main office number to discuss.



We are delighted to advise that since receiving revised guidance from the Scottish Government, we have carried out a Risk Assessment and implemented a contactless letting system which has allowed us to re-let a number of properties that have become vacant.  This allows us to continue to provide a vital service to those in housing need whilst adhering to government guidelines and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.  If you have any questions regarding allocations, please contact any of our Housing Management staff who will be happy to discuss this.


Rent Payments

If you need any help or advice with your rent account, or if you are worried about a change in circumstances, due to loss of earnings, please contact your Housing Officer who will be able to offer advice or arrange a referral for you to one of our Money Advisers or Financial Capability Officer.


Money Advice/Financial Capability Advice

Our Money Advice and Financial Capability Services continue to operate, albeit remotely via telephone. If you require assistance, please contact us and we will arrange a referral for you.


Royston Coronavirus Response Group

The group continues to operate and is working tirelessly to ensure that we get food parcels/hot meals and supplies to those that need them.  At the moment, we are delivering over 220 food parcels and 175 hot meals every week. 


Our partners at Royston Youth Action also continue to do a tremendous job in co-ordinating the provision of around 300 lunches per week to our young people.  They are also providing around 185 care packages to our young families and elderly which includes some treats and activities to keep them occupied whilst still in lockdown.  Well done guys – you have done (and are still doing) an amazing job!


We also owe a huge thanks to the Hub on The Hill Café.  They have worked tiredlessly to ensure that all of the hot meals and kids lunches are provided and without them we would not have been able to deliver – so thankyou guys!


Our partners at North Glasgow Healthy Living Initiative have added into the mix “The Fakeaway”, providing ingredients and recipes for you to try to make your own favourite takeaways at home.  This has been received really well.


We realise that this continues to be a very concerning time for all residents within our community and we are here to help as much as we possibly can.  We are pleased that we are beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel and that some restrictions are easing but appreciate that this does not mean life will return to normal for the majority any time soon.  We will continue to support our community as best we can.
